Hi There -

Photos in the hospital may not be something you’ve considered or even realized was an option, but a Fresh 48 session is a wonderful way to document those earliest moments as you bond with your new baby. Babies change so quickly, and it’s hard to remember all the little details when you’re sleep-deprived and recovering. I love working with new (or repeat) parents to create a relaxed, meaningful experience so you can fully soak up these early memories.

What is Fresh 48 Newborn Photography?

Fresh 48 photography captures your baby’s first 48 hours of life, typically while you’re still in the hospital before discharge. These sessions focus on real, candid moments, creating a beautiful record of your newborn’s earliest hours.

How Do Fresh 48 Sessions Work?

You’ll let me know when you go into labor, and once your baby arrives, we’ll finalize a time for the session. I’ll come to your hospital room and use natural light to create candid images of your newborn and family. I might adjust furniture for the best lighting and composition, but I always leave things just as I found them. Your only job is to focus on caring for your baby.

When are Hospital Newborn Photos Typically Taken?

These photos are taken within the first 48 hours after birth, while you’re still in the hospital. This timing captures the freshest moments that pass by quickly.

How Should We Dress Our Baby in the Photos?

Keep it simple. Swaddling your baby in a soft, neutral-colored blanket or outfit is ideal for creating a timeless look. The focus will be on your baby’s natural beauty. I also bring a few blankets to make things easier for you.

Can We Include Siblings or Family Members in the Photos?

Absolutely! Including siblings or other family members can add even more love and excitement to these special moments. We’ll discuss this in advance so everything can be planned out.

Is it Safe for Our Baby to Be Photographed So Soon After Birth?

Yes, safety is always my top priority. As a mom of two and an experienced early childhood special educator, I’m comfortable working with newborns and will ensure your baby is safe and secure throughout the session. Your baby’s well-being is paramount.

What Happens If We are Not Ready for Photos After Our Baby Arrives or the Birth Doesn’t Go as Planned?

I’ve had two babies myself and like to be flexible since you can’t always predict how you will feel after your baby arrives. If you’re not ready for photos, we can easily switch to an in-home newborn session.

How Long Does a Typical Photo Session last?

A typical Fresh 48 session lasts around 90 minutes, but I always allow flexibility depending on your baby’s needs. The goal is to capture a variety of beautiful moments while respecting your bonding time.

What are the Costs Associated with Hospital Newborn Photos?

I offer a range of packages for Fresh 48 sessions. Feel free to check out me Investment Page for details on your options.

When will We Receive the Final Photos?

You’ll receive a link to your full gallery within 4 weeks of your session, but I’ll send a few sneak peeks sooner because I know how excited you’ll be to see photos of your little one!

What if Our Baby is Fussy or Uncooperative During the Session?

Newborns can be unpredictable, and I’m always prepared for that! I’ll work around your baby’s needs, allowing for breaks and adjustments to keep things stress-free. Authentic moments are my priority, even if we have to pause for a bit.

Remember that it’s essential for new parents to communicate their preferences, concerns, and questions to ensure a positive and memorable newborn photo experience. These photos will become cherished memories of your baby’s earliest days, so I encourage you to make the experience your own. I want you to enjoy every moment.
